Adorn Your Table With A Festive Christmas Centerpiece

If you are hosting guests this holiday season, you know that a beautifully set Christmas table becomes the centerpiece of your dining room or kitchen. But what about a centerpiece for that table? Many hostesses find that they are intimidated at the prospect of a make-your-own Christmas centerpiece, and will opt instead for a store-bought adornment. While arrangements from a florist can be a lovely addition to any table, these Christmas centerpieces can also be expensive. The good news is that you can easily create a masterpiece for your table that you will love and your guests will admire.

Christmas Centerpieces Don’t Always Mean Flowers

There are many materials that you can use to create your Christmas centerpiece. But before you head to the craft store to shop for supplies, you need to determine the size of the centerpiece that your table requires. There are a couple of handy rules of thumb here. First, do not make your Christmas centerpiece too high, unless you plan to remove it during the meal so that your guests can actually see each other across the table. Also, you need to decide if you want one grand piece in the center of your table, or a coordinated collection of items to add interest to your holiday setting. Collections can include bowls of fruit or potpourri, miniature Christmas trees or a flickering set of scented candles.

While flowers and greens can make festive and fragrant Christmas centerpieces, don’t limit yourself to arrangements strictly from your florist shop. With Styrofoam cones and glass ornaments, you can create elegant tree topiaries in colors to coordinate with the rest of your table. Other materials can include candy canes, beaded fruit or boxes wrapped to look like holiday gifts. Whatever type of Christmas centerpiece you decide to use on your holiday table, you can take the theme a step further by adorning napkin rings, place markers, or even the backs of your chairs with similar items. For example, if you decide to go with a present theme, you can hang a couple of extra wrapped gifts from the backs of your chairs with pretty ribbon. Add small gift boxes to napkin rings or simply center them on empty salad plates.

Going Fresh

If you do opt for a fresh Christmas centerpiece, wait to assemble your arrangement until a day or two before your dinner. Make sure that you keep fresh water in the container that houses your centerpiece, and keep the arrangement on a pretty tray to catch falling needles and petals, or dripping water. To add interest to your arrangement, add greens like holly, boxwood and cedar to your traditional pine boughs. Keep in mind that some Christmas plants like holly and poinsettias can be poisonous for pets and children, so keep potentially dangerous plants in a safe location. Christmas centerpieces can be a beautiful focal point for your holiday table. Have fun and let your imagination help you create the perfect centerpiece for your home.

Christmas Candles to Complete Your Christmas Settings

Christmas is a wonderful time of year when we try in every way to bring into our homes its spirit and festivity by decorating the windows, the lawn, having a Christmas tree and decorating the Christmas dinner table with everything specific to Christmas including Christmas candles.

Christmas Dinner

Most of us plan Christmas gatherings months in advance in order to ensure everything is as festive as possible while creating a dinner menu to please the crowd. Christmas candles can play an important role at the Christmas dinner because they inspire warmth and intimacy but they can also be formal as well.

However at Christmas, hardly anyone ever has formal dinners so you are looking at a variety of Christmas candles in order to make the atmosphere in your home as welcoming and enjoyable as possible.

There are a large variety of Christmas candles available and you have as many choices in how to arrange and display them for the Christmas day as you do in regards to the actual Christmas candles that you choose. Here are some suggestions:

If you are hosting a dinner with a large number of guests and need tables that seat ten or more people at any one time, you can use center pieces of Christmas wreaths in which you can place large candles and light them during the dinner so they will burn slowly and give the effect desired while not making any mess on your table cloth.

If you are hosting dinner for a smaller group of people, you can place Christmas candles in a candle holder of three, five or how ever many candles you wish. This would result in a series of smaller centerpieces, maybe even one per person if you have the room on the table.

If you are hosting dinner for two, the best choice of Christmas candles would be an intimate setting of a single candle set as the centerpiece, maybe in a crystal candle holder.

Take Care of Your Table Cloth

We all use the best things we have during the holidays and a table cloth for Christmas dinner is no exception; there may be many other things that can stain and/or ruin your table cloth on Christmas day such as red wine or gravy but if you are having Christmas candles for your dinner they will most definitely leave some wax stains unless you make precautions to avoid them.

The best way to avoid any wax marks is to put a napkin under each candle stand and you can easily discard it once the party is over or you can have floating candles in water instead of candle holders and thus you don’t need to worry about them staining or catching anything on fire.

The more you plan each little detail for Christmas day the better success it will turn out to be. So ensure every little thing is covered in order for you to sit back and enjoy the day when it arrives.

Christmas Art for Presents and Decoration

Christmas is the season of giving and showing your love and care to everyone but mostly to those who are close to you and who you want to feel loved and cared for. The traditional way to do so is to buy presents that are to be given on Christmas day, however choosing one is not always as easy as it sounds even if you know a person very well.

Choosing Christmas Gifts

Sometimes the more you know someone the harder is gets to purchase a gift that is original and unique for festivities such as Christmas. However, Christmas art is something that most people enjoy and can treasure and enjoy long after Christmas is over.

Finding Christmas art is not hard depending on how much you want to spend. You can get anything from famous paintings to simple ones made by everyday artists but with the same effect. It is the thought that matters behind each gift and that itself will carry your message of care and love, so if you are not absolutely positive that the person you are presenting an art piece to enjoys it, don’t spend a fortune on it!

Christmas art can be incorporated in your Christmas gift ideas in many ways. If you are an art lover yourself and enjoy adding a bit of it to anything and everything you do, here are some ideas which may help:

Get Christmas art greeting cards, which will also be treasured the same way a painting is and are pretty affordable, offering a way to personalize them yourself.

You can also get Christmas art decorations such as vintage items that you know someone may be collecting and would appreciate your effort. Christmas art pieces such as candles, candle holders, wreaths and decorating pieces are another way to go.

Where To Look For Christmas Art

Depending on what you are looking for, you may need to start your search online first and then try to locate a store near you, or even shop online. If you are looking for a rare piece of Christmas art you may need to start your search quite a bit before Christmas to ensure you have it by Christmas time.

Remember that postal services are a bit slower than normal in the month of December due to the heavy traffic of greeting cards and presents, so you may want to have your Christmas art present purchased before December if it is something that must come via the mail.

The Story Of Christmas

Christmas is one day throughout the year that people all over the world look forward to. It’s is a time for sharing, family, love, gifts, eating, and general merry making. Christmas, unknown to most people, didn’t start out being celebrated on December 25th until the late 16th century. Here is a little story about Christmas that you should probably read.

From Mithras To Christmas

December 25th is known worldwide as the day people celebrate the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. Many Christians know, however, that Jesus wasn’t actually born on Christmas. Historically, Jesus would have been born in either April or May, so why do Christians celebrate Christ’s birth on this date? Simple, the Roman Catholic Church, in order to incorporate more people into their masses, decided to blend together a pagan holiday with a holy one. December 25th, originally, was the day pagans (non-Christians) celebrated the birth of the deity Mithras. Mithras was a demi-god who was worshipped primarily by males. The Church, in an effort to get those same pagans to church, thought that placing the birth of Christ on the same day as the birth of Mithras, would get more worshippers. Since then, the holiday meant to celebrate the birth of Mithras has completely been absorbed by the church, and any mention of Mithras has been placed in obscurity.

From Celebrating Christ To Celebrating Presents

Today, Christmas has become more about receiving gifts, giving gifts, and eating large quantities of food, than about celebrating the birth of the Savior. Sure, there are many who still understand the true meaning of Christmas, but they too seem to easily get caught up in the hustle and bustle of gift shopping, food shopping, and decorating.

It is important for people to stop, take a breath, and open their eyes to the wonder of the season. People need to understand that Christmas didn’t start out as a reason to get gifts. It started out as a way to get more people to worship Christ. Sure, the Church was a little misguided and deceptive in its attempts, but what has passed is past and no one can change what has happened. It is up to people, today, to rethink their motivations around this sacred holiday. Are they buying gifts so that they don’t feel guilty or because they truly want to be gracious? Are they visiting the poor and needy because they want to feel better about their own circumstances or because they are humble enough to realize that it could be them that are poor and needy? Are they inviting family over for turkey and mashed potatoes because it’s their turn and they didn’t want to let the family down or because they truly and honestly want to be surrounded by people who love them?

As you can see, there are many different reasons that people celebrate Christmas, but celebrating Christmas out of selfish and greedy means is only tainting the true meaning- sacrifice of the purest kind.

Many happy wishes as you celebrate Christmas this year.
