Christmas On A Budget:Free Christmas Card

If you are like many people, you do not have thousands of dollars to throw around at Christmas time. You still want your family to have a good Christmas and experience all of the joys of the season, but you are smart enough to know that putting all of your holiday expenses on a credit card is just not financially savvy behavior. Here are some tips for doing Christmas on a budget, including information on how to get free Christmas cards and not over extending your budget on gifts.

Getting Free Christmas Cards

One of the biggest and most frivolous expenditures around Christmas time is on Christmas cards. A great way to cut down on this cost is to purchase your Christmas cards during after Christmas sales. But if you want to get truly free Christmas cards, there are a couple of ways to do that, too. One free Christmas card idea is to use printable Christmas cards. However, these are not exactly one hundred percent free Christmas cards. You will have to pay for the paper and the ink from your printer. However, you will have many options to choose from if you print your own free Christmas cards. You can really personalize them any way you would like. If you cannot afford the postage to mail out Christmas cards, then even free Christmas cards will not be worth it. Instead, call your family and friends to wish them a merry Christmas season or send a heartfelt email. Even free Christmas cards will cost money for shipping if you mail them traditionally, so you may want to forgo this tradition all together.

Free Christmas Card Is Better Option Than Gift Giving

One of the most financially stressful areas of Christmas is, of course, gift giving. You want to give your children the best gifts possible, but sometimes that just is not a realistic option. Instead, you need to be smart and resourceful. Does your child have a favorite meal? Make him a ticket saying that you will cook that meal on whatever night he presents that coupon. Does your child have a favorite baked good? Make up a giant batch to give to her. Another idea is to purchase only two or three gifts for each person. That way you can put a lot of thought into those few gifts and you are not spending money on tree filler gifts that your children will never use.

Following these few tips can help you to have a much more financially sound Christmas this season.
