Christmas Games To Keep The Kids Entertained

So you’ve planned a Christmas Eve party and invited all the neighbors and their families over. The food and drink will be flowing for the adults, but how will the kids keep themselves entertained throughout the evening? There are so many Christmas games for children and ways to keep them entertained but here are just a few of the more popular games:

Christmas Treasure Hunt

In this game you leave clues around your house which have questions that need to be answered. The questions are all simple Christmas based ones. The children write down their answers on a piece of paper before heading off to find the next clue. When they’ve finished answering all the questions they return to an adult who checks the answers and awards a prize.

Fill That Christmas Stocking!

In this game the children must fill up a Christmas stocking with candy using only a spoon. Divide the children in to teams of 3 or 4. On one end of the room have a big bowl of small candy such as Haribo or some other wrapped candy. At the other end of the room hang up a stocking for each team. Give each child a spoon and depending on their age they can either hold it in their hand or in their mouth (but make sure you are on hand to supervise!). They then use the spoon to scoop up the candy and empty it in their stocking at the other end of the room. The winning team is the one who fills their stocking first. As a reward the children get to share the candy in their stocking.

The Mystery Stocking

Fill several stockings with every day items and a few Christmas items (make sure they are not sharp or delicate!) and then get the children to sit in a circle with a pencil and paper. They have to pass the stocking around the circle and just by feeling the outside they have to write down what items they think is inside the stocking.

Balloon Bursting

Any game which involves kids and balloons is guaranteed to give them huge amounts of fun, one very simple game is to ask the children to burst as many balloons as possible in a given time frame. One way to do this is to have a line of chairs facing a pile of balloons. In 60 seconds the children need to pick up a balloon, race back to their seat and then sit on the balloon to burst it. You’ll need several adults on hand to count the number of balloons each child bursts so that you can distribute treats!
